In an attempt to record more underperformed repertoire, Mira decided to multitrack a madrigal by Maddalena Casulana, the first woman in the Western pantheon to have her music published. Hopefully, this recording will be the first of many.

This recording was multitracked by Mira and mixed by Rachael Smith, composer. If you are interested in learning about the recording process, consider reading Mira’s two blog posts on the topic, Multitracking Maddalena’s Madrigals and Tips on How to Multitrack at Home.

Praised for her “nuanced vocal splendor” and “mesmerizing style” (Jay Harvey Upstage), Mira Fu-En Huang uses her voice to veer off the beaten path and bring lesser-told stories to the forefront. She has had the pleasure of singing not just in the languages of the western classical canon, but in Spanish, Korean, Irish, Czech, Bulgarian, Nisenan, and more. Her repertory sprawls across cultures and eras, from folk music, to medieval motets, to the works of living composers.
